IMPACT in Healthcare is compiling stories from HCWs who have experienced workplace violence (WPV). WPV in healthcare is often normalized as part of the job and incidences are grossly underreported due to fear of retaliation, while other industries (e.g. the flight industry) have strict processes in place to address WPV.

WPV is a growing problem in healthcare with HCWs 5 times more likely to experience WPV compared to the general workforce. WPV includes physical violence, harassment and/or intimidation. It can be committed by colleagues, patients or visitors.  

IMPACT hopes that by sharing HCWs stories we can raise awareness and work toward the safe work environment HCWs deserve.
