One of the most fun parts about starting to speedrun is also getting to know more members around the community, starting a new game and even competing with others around your level.

A lot of times, joining a tournament might be overwhelming to a lot of people specially thinking that they will be outperformed pretty easily by the top competitors.

So this time around, in GG_Speedruns, we have decided to do a Rookie Tournament right before the start of our main The Messenger Tournament and here are the rules and format:

• Tournament will be played in the New Game 8bit No OOB category for The Messenger
• All players with a time of 35 mins or slower at the time of this survey being made public are allowed to join.
  
• It is ok if your PB improves between the time of this post and the date of the tournament,.
• Tournament will be played as a battle Royale (Meaning all competitors will be running at the same time) Until we get to a top 4
  
• Top 4 will play Semi Finals and Grand Finals in a single elimination format (seed 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 depending on the Battle Royale Results)
  
• Total number of rounds for the Battle Royale as well as how many people is eliminated after each round will be decided based on how many participants decide to join.
  
• Maximum of 6 rounds for the Battle Royale will be played and they will all be done in the same day, starting with Round 1 on Dec 3rd at 10am CST.
  
• Players must be available for about 3 hours total on December 3rd for the Battle Royale.
  
• Semifinals will take place on December 4th starting at 10am followed by the Grand Finals on the same day.
• All participants must be able to stream at least at 720/60 with 2000 bitrate or better and streams should be made to twitch.tv
• A custom layout will be provided to all the participants to use during the tournament to make the restream easier.
  
• All the Battle Royale Rounds as well as Semi Finals and Grand Finals will be streamed at https://twitch.tv/GG_Speedruns
  
• Winner for the Rookies Tournament will earn a special seeding during the Regular Tournament
  
• 1st and 2nd place will also receive a Sea of Stars steam code upon release of the game.
  
• All participants must be part of GG_Speedruns discord: https://discord.gg/WM8hUPM
• Please refer all questions directly in the specific channel for The Messenger tournament in GG Speedruns Discord.
  
• Failing to follow any instructons might result in disqualification of the tournament per GG Speedruns staff consideration.
