Urban Unangax̂ Culture Camp General Information
Children's Schedule:
   -June 20-24, 2022 (Monday - Friday)
   -9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Location:
   -Unangam Ulaa (Home of the Aleuts)
   -1131 East International Airport Road  Anchorage, Alaska 99518

Aleut Picnic:
   -Saturday, June 25th at 12:00 pm at The Aleut Plaza, 4000 Old Seward Hwy.  

Activities:
   -Art: Danielle Larsen
   -Dance: Chyonne Buterin
   -Traditional Foods: Moses Dirks, Teresa Smith, and other Unangax̂ Knowledge Bearers
   -Unangam tunuu: Darling Anderson, Bobbi, Dushkin, Marjorie Baker and other Unangam tunuu interns.
(All classes are paired with Unangam tunuu teachers to teach language during each class)

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON June 3, 2022 by 5:00 pm.

Other Information:
   -Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
   -If your child has special needs, an adult must accompany him/her during camp. Camp staff are not trained to work with
    special needs children. Please make prior contact with us to provide details.
   -Please pick up your children (10 and younger), promptly at 12:00 pm. Please come inside of the building to sign your child in
    and out each day to ensure safety.
   -Elders are welcome anytime during camp to visit, help with classes, or to work on a project.  
   -Adults who are traveling from outside of the Anchorage area may participate in classes during the daytime. Please check in
   with the instructor on the first day of camp.
   -Parents: Assistance with managing the large groups of children as they work on projects, as they rotate between classes, and
   help preparing and distributing daily snacks would be greatly appreciated!
   -Please do not leave children under 5 unattended during the evening or allow them to disrupt classes.

Covid-19 Safety Protocols
-PLEASE NOTE THAT MASKS ARE NO LONGER REQURED BUT NOW OPTIONAL.
-If you are not feeling well, please stay home!
-Please continue to social distance and participate in activities outside as much as possible, weather permitting.
-Sanitation will be taking place in-between classes.
Travel Scholarships
Travel scholarships are available through The Aleut Foundation. To apply for a scholarship please visit  http://www.thealeutfoundation.org/culture/.

Applicants will be considered eligible based on the following criteria:
   -A shareholder of The Aleut Corporation (TAC).
   -A descendant of a shareholder of TAC.*
   -A spouse of a shareholder of TAC.
   -An ex-spouse of a TAC shareholder with shareholder descendant children.*
   -An Aleut or a descendant of an Aleut who is a beneficiary of the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Restitution Trust.*
*Note: Descendant is defined as the child, grandchild or great-grandchild.
