March 23-29, 2020
info@jointforcesdance.comIn addition to the open dancing, Contemplative Dance Practice, and guided warm-ups, afternoon workshops on four days will be with Andrew Harwood of Montreal. These sessions invite us to honor our essence and become the masters of what we know and what we do. The classes create containers for focused investigation, encouraging each person to engage in the dynamics of self-care and empathy for others and remind us to respect and cherish the environment we live in and create. Perceptual/figurative skills involving the somatosensory systems such as “seeing” through the skin, “tasting” sensation or “listening” to the rhythm of the dance will be examined and integrated into the greater set of essential physical skills such as: grounding, levity, precision in locating centers, falling and landing safely from any level, being omni-directionally responsive, and developing the optimum tonus, alignment and timing for weight modulations. The classes facilitate the development of a heightened and subtle presence in our solo, duet and trio dances, while remaining attentive to the ever-changing creative climate generated in our group compositions. Bring your curiosity, a keen desire to dance and a willingness to see, share and be seen.
