Board of Directors Candidate Application
The board of directors of NAMI LCH is responsible for carrying out the organization’s mission and providing overall leadership and strategic direction.  In carrying out its duties, the board of directors actively sets policy and ensures that the organization has adequate resources to carry out its mission; provides oversight and works with the executive vice president and is responsible for the annual evaluation of his/her performance; and annually evaluates its own effectiveness as a governing body, as a group of volunteers, and as representatives of the community in upholding the public interest served by the corporation.

The Board meets the 1st Tuesday of each month from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.  There are no board meetings in July, August, and December.  Candidates must be willing and able to attend these meetings.  Board members are nominated for up to two, three-year terms.    

Specific Responsibilities include:
1. Attend and prepare for board meetings
2. Participate on at least one committee
3. Contribute to a sense of camaraderie and teamwork
4. Ask good questions and contribute to the decision making
5. Act as a guardian of NAMI’s reputation and mission
6. Be a resource in a particular area
7. Attend at least half of the NAMI events, including planned fundraisers, United Way Allocation presentations, NAMIWalks, Friends of NAMI, and the Annual Membership Meeting.
