STBBI Testing & Treatment for 2SLGBTQIA+ Patients
This FREE course is for health professionals who want to better understand the issues around sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection (STBBI) testing and treatment needs of Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual, and other sex, sexual, and gender identities that have been historically marginalized in Canada (2SLGBTQIA+) people. At the conclusion of the course, participants will comprehend appropriate testing schedules for STBBIs, how to treat and follow-up STBBIs in the primary care office, and when it is most appropriate to refer a patient onwards to an Infectious Disease specialist.

This training is entirely online and is self-directed learning. The content of this program was designed with the Nova Scotia context in mind, but the lessons are broadly applicable. This course is accredited through Mainpro+ if completed by October 31, 2023. 

Total estimated time required to complete this course is 2.5 hours. In this course, participants will:
1️⃣  Learn about STBBI testing and treatment from a community clinic perspective with Abbey Ferguson from the Halifax Sexual Health Centre (35 minutes)
2️⃣  Engage with practice considerations in a video led by Dr. Monika Dutt from the Ally Centre of Cape Breton (50 minutes)
3️⃣  Watch a recorded Q&A and panel discussion of community stakeholders and healthcare professionals (40 minutes)
4️⃣  Complete an online quiz to demonstrate learning (approximately 5 minutes)
5️⃣  Provide feedback through an evaluation survey (5 minutes)
