Independent Contractor Application
This form is an application for independent contractors to provide SBDC their services under Cal Poly Humboldt Sponsored Programs Foundation. If chosen as a contractor, the information provided will be held on file for three years. It will not be necessary to resubmit any information until after that three year period, unless your personal information has changed and would need to be updated.

PLEASE NOTE:

1. This is not a contract.
2. The contract term will be one year, but the information provided here is valid for three years.
3. If your are applying to work for more than one service center, please fill out one form per center.
4. Current employees of a California State University (CSU) campus or Auxiliary are not eligible to apply.
5. Counseling and training services are provided both in person and remotely. It is not a requirement to live in the region where services will be provided.

BACKGROUND:

The NorCal SBDC serves small businesses in the northern 36 counties of California, from Aptos to Crescent City, from Truckee to San Jose. North Coast SBDC

The North Coast SBDC covers the Humboldt and Del Norte county regions. Last year, North Coast SBDC helped more than 572 clients navigate through a pandemic and access $15 million in capital to start or grow their business and create a meaningful impact on our local community – the likes of 188 new jobs.

Special Programs SBDC

Special Programs is a part of the SBDC that provides specialized and unique services throughout the region, and includes the Restaurant Program, Finance Center, the Inclusivity Project, and Tech Futures Group. Special Programs also provides regional counseling and training services throughout the NorCal SBDC territory.

Restaurant Program: The Restaurant Program is a network of experts in the hospitality industry. Restaurant Program advisors provide one-on-one advising, training, and resources as food, beverage, and hospitality specialists.

Finance Center: The Finance Center helps clients understand their best financial options and achieve business goals by securing the right type of capital. Finance Center advisors work to assist clients with understanding both traditional and lesser-known creative funding resources for their business.

Inclusivity Project: The Inclusivity Project partners with passionate entrepreneurs and forerunners to build resilient, profitable, companies and shape the next generation of Black entrepreneurship. The Inclusivity Project advisors combine education, mentorship, and peer-to-peer connection, to help existing and aspiring entrepreneurs build a comprehensive business plan and help them prepare for business ownership.

Tech Futures Group (TFG): TFG advisors help tech startups with strategic resources and end-to-end support  to get in front of the right people, to get the right funding, and excel in a fast-paced, complex, and highly competitive market. TFG advisors specialize in areas such as intellectual property, fundraising, financial planning and projections, and federal grants.

NorCal Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC)

Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC): Go-to resources for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses looking to start, purchase or grow a business, NorCal VBOC provides business development assistance, training, counseling, mentoring, and resource referrals to clients.
