MCCL is sponsoring an 8-week online chess class from the International Chess Academy for female scholastic chess players beginning on Wednesday December 30, 2020 - Feb. 17, 2021. Two classes will be offered: Intermediate 1 (USCF rating of 600-1000) and Intermediate 2 (USCF rating of 1000-1200) at either 4-5 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. You must be a current MCCL member and have renewed your MCCL membership for 2021 to apply. Homework will be required for the 8-week course, and it requires active online participation and answering questions.

This scholarship is made possible through a donation to the MCCL Girls Chess Initiative by the US Chess Women's Committee and Scholastic Chess Center designed to encourage more girls to play competitive chess, particularly in the middle and high school level. Priority will be given to female students in middle (6th-8th) and high school (9th-12th), but elementary students in 4th and 5th grade may also apply who meet the minimum rating requirement.
