How to become a Docent Volunteer
The following are the steps that must be followed to become a Docent.
Fill out an application
Sign up for the training
Attend one and a half days of onsite training sessions
Complete the Agreement Form / Liability Waiver
Apprentice on at least one staff-led outing
Over the course of the year, attend 4 enrichment activities
Docents should meet the following criteria:
Docents must be 18 years or older.
Docents must become 1st aid/CPR certified and keep certification current. (Can be completed after docent training; ask LandPaths if you need help finding a course.)
Docents should be comfortable presenting to small groups.
Commitment:
Docents must commit to the Docent Program for at least one year.
Docents must commit to leading a minimum of 4 events with LandPaths each year.
Docents will submit a Field Report following each guided outing within 24 hours.
Leading an outing takes approximately 3 hours.
