How to become a Docent Volunteer  

The following are the steps that must be followed to become a Docent. 

  1. Fill out an application  

  2. Sign up for the training 

  3. Attend one and a half days of onsite training sessions 

  4. Complete the Agreement Form / Liability Waiver  

  5. Apprentice on at least one staff-led outing 

  6. Over the course of the year, attend 4 enrichment activities 

Docents should meet the following criteria: 

  • Docents must be 18 years or older.  

  • Docents must become 1st aid/CPR certified and keep certification current. (Can be completed after docent training; ask LandPaths if you need help finding a course.) 

  • Docents should be comfortable presenting to small groups. 

Commitment:

  • Docents must commit to the Docent Program for at least one year. 

  • Docents must commit to leading a minimum of 4 events with LandPaths each year. 

  • Docents will submit a Field Report following each guided outing within 24 hours. 

  • Leading an outing takes approximately 3 hours.
