WORKERS IN TECH SAY NO TO APEC!
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum is an annual series of meetings where governments and private businesses across 21 “member economies” collude to promote global neoliberalism. In 2023, the USA is hosting APEC – its first time since 2011. In November, President Biden and other heads of state and business will be coming to San Francisco to establish major international free trade deals. The ministers and businesses involved prioritize corporate profits over people's needs while crafting trade agreements that will impact over 3 billion people around the world.

The trade deal that will be the focus of these trade talks is called the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), a new US-led deal being negotiated between 14 Pacific Rim countries, setting rules not only for trade, but also supply chains, “clean” energy and infrastructure, taxes, and so-called “anti-corruption” for over 3 billion people, or 40% of the global GDP.

Tech companies, like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Boeing are directly involved in policy making for IPEF and stand to shape almost every aspect of our lives.

Please join us for a teach-in on APEC prior to the meetings in November to discuss:
- The influence of tech companies on free trade agreements
- How tech companies can impact climate change
- The impact of free trade policies on immigrants and workers
-  Impact of free trade on personal data privacy, surveillance, and more!
