Because we learn new things at every rehearsal, it is very important that every member of the Marching Spartans is in attendance. It is also extremely important that every member is at every performance. We cannot put on our best performance unless every member is on the field. This being said, the attendance policy will be followed strictly.

Alexander Marching Spartans Attendance Policy:

1. Students missing a rehearsal or performance will need to provide either a written excuse, an email, or a phone call from a parent/guardian by the next rehearsal. Students failing to provide an excuse FROM A PARENT OR GUARDIAN will have an "unexcused absence".

2. Students with an unexcused absence from the first day of Band Camp will lose their spot on the field and may not have a spot in the drill for the season. If your student is going to miss any days of Band Camp, especially the first day, please let the director know as soon as possible.

3. Once school starts, students that miss both Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals during the week will not be allowed to participate in any performances over the weekend, including Friday night football games. This includes members with EXCUSED AND UNEXCUSED ABSENCES.

4. A member with THREE UNEXCUSED ABSENCES WILL BE BENCHED. Members that are benched will need to attend both rehearsals in a week and the performances for that week, but will not be allowed to perform. Members that are benched that do not attend required rehearsals and performances will be dismissed from the group.

Signing this contract states that the band member and their parent or guardian understand these policies and understand the consequences if they are not followed.
