New_ Public Community Lab Show & Tell: RSVP

We recently held our first Community Lab Design Sprint, in which we asked, “How might we design digital spaces that support a diverse set of public school parents in building connections?”

Our hunch was that school communities could be fascinating places to build healthy, cross-cutting digital conversational spaces. Public schools are, after all, one of our most important – and often unjust – public institutions. However, they are also places where we practice the muscles of learning, friendship, and civil discourse. While there’s been conflict in the parent communities around schools, we’re curious how new tools can support more equity, mutuality, and joy around schools.

A lot of insights emerged – as well as some exciting concepts for how we might build different kinds of digital spaces around schools. We’re inviting collaborators and close members of the New_Public community to share back and explore together.  This will be a relatively small group consisting of a balanced mix of practitioners, funders, researchers, and other New_ Public peers.
