Sand Ridge Math Department Disclosure                 Mrs. Larsen - Math 7 Honors
Materials

Students are expected to come to class everyday with:
-CHARGED Chromebook
-lined paper or notebook
-pencil

*We will use the Chromebook everyday, but it is also important to have paper and a pencil to work problems out. Please bring them every day!

NEW THIS YEAR:

-PLUG IN earbuds to use with Chromebook (YOU MAY ONLY USE your PLUG IN earbuds to watch teacher approved videos that are part of your modules in Canvas)
-calculator (nothing fancy, I like the TI-30Xa or something similar about $10 at Walmart or Amazon)

* If you are unable to get your own PLUG IN earbuds or calculator I will have some available for you to use that I will sanitize each time between uses. But it would still be best to have your own to help prevent the spread of germs.

*Students have the right to learn in an environment as safe and free from distractions as possible. Consequently, behavior which detracts from this type of environment will not be tolerated. Students are expected to follow the mitigation plans for Covid 19 that I have established in my classroom. The school's tardy and truancy policies will be enforced. Citizenship grades will reflect in-class behavior (including work ethic) and the tardy and truancy policies.

How to succeed

All students have the ability to succeed in Math. It just requires a commitment to paying attention, making an effort on every assignment, asking questions, turning in work on time and re-doing any work or test that had a low score. Most important of all: Never give up!

Assignments

Homework is how students communicate to the teacher their understanding of the concepts. This feedback from the students allows the teacher to plan if reteaching is needed or the class is ready to move to the next section. For teachers to make this decision work must be turned in on time. Work that is turned in on time may be redone for full credit.

Extra Credit

Assignments are given to give the student practice with the important concepts of the Utah State Core Curriculum for mathematics.  It is vital that students understand these concepts, so students must complete the assignments before they attempt extra credit.  Teachers may allow students to do ALEKS for extra credit but it will not exceed 2% of the final grade.

Grades

Grades will be given according to the following grading scale:

A = 93-100% B = 83-85%  C = 73-75% D = 63-65%
A-= 90-92% B-= 80-82%  C-= 70-72% D-= 60-62%
B+=86-89% C+=76-79%  D+=66-69% F = Below 60%

These symbols may be used for grading on progress reports:

A = Absent: Student was absent on this date. Work can be made up with a week for full credit.
AC = Accommodation: Due to individual situations the teacher assigned or graded this assignment with accommodations.
I = Incomplete: Assignment must be re-done as it  was submitted but was not complete to the minimum required standards.
L = Late: The assignment was submitted after the due date.
M = Missing: The assignment has not been submitted for grading.
R = Redone: The student re-did the assignment.
X = Exempt: The student is not required to do assignment and it is not included in the final grade for that student.
Ch = Cheating: score is zero and cannot be made up.  Cheating also affects the citizenship grade.

Citizenship

Citizenship grades reflect the students adherence to the rules, the effort put forth in the class, and the attitude of the student.

*Please note that Safe School Policy infractions will be immediately referred to the administration.

The most important rule for school is to show RESPECT to the teacher, other students. and yourself. The school rules are listed in the student folder received at registration, but here are a few to keep in mind:
• Be on time and in your seat with your materials, ready to work. See school tardy policy.
• Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. If it’s not yours don’t touch it.
• Follow instructions the first time they are given and don’t talk back or try to argue with the teacher.
• Stay in your assigned seats.
• Do your own work and turn it in on time.
• Keep food and drinks in the cafeteria. (You may have water in class.)
• Make-up, toys or any other objects that distract from schoolwork are not allowed in class.

CELL PHONES and AIRPODS are not allowed in the classroom.  They must be kept out of sight.

Permission:

We will be using several apps that have been approved by the district. Since all of my students are in 7th grade and many haven't turned 13  yet, I would like to get your approval to use the following apps:   Pear Deck, Near Pod, Blooket, Gimkit, ALEKS, and EdPuzzle. By signing this form, you agree to your student's use of the district approved apps in Canvas.
