Lockleaze CIL projects
We have a limited amount of money to allocate to CIL projects that are shared across four wards Hillfields, Eastville, Frome Vale & Lockleaze.
We don't have quotes for all of the projects at the moment, so we will have to take into account your priorities and what seems to be the best value for money and which of the issues could be solved in other ways.

• Gainsborough Square – safety and play
Proposing lighting is installed to run just along the path through Gainsborough Square, powered by solar energy and only on till 12 am. Also proposing the basketball court has the grass removed and a soft surface added so it can be used for basketball and football

• Improving Stoke Park
Replacing dog mess bins with multi-use bins
Installing simple wooden benches in multiple locations, some with backs, some without.
Installing a wooden fence around the marshland habitat area at the bottom of Stoke Park/ include bird watching hole/stands in the fencing

• Detached Youth Work in Lockleaze
There is an increase in Lockleaze Community Youth Partnership (CYP) getting involved in Anti-Social Behaviour cases, county lines and gangs following the COVID pandemic. At the Our Lockleaze Community Forum, residents asked for more positive role models (detached youth workers) in Lockleaze to empower CYP to make positive decisions in their lives.

• Traffic calming measures on Bonnington Walk
The project is to deliver traffic calming measures on Bonnington Walk. Traffic races up and down this road (which is one of the main access points in and out of the Ward) off and onto Gainsborough Square, and unlike nearby Constable road which has speed cushions, Bonnington has no traffic calming measures.

• Traffic calming measures on Glenfrome Road
The project is to deliver traffic calming measures on Glenfrome Road. Speeding is a problem, particularly on the stretch from Muller Road to St Werburghs and especially in non-rush hour times, like after 6.30 pm or on weekends. This project proposes traffic calming measures to be determined by BCC Transport department.

• Traffic calming measures on Shaldon Road
The project is to deliver traffic calming measures near the top of Shaldon Road. There have been several accidents on Shaldon Road in recent months and, particularly since it got resurfaced, traffic races up and down the road - one of the main access points in and out of the Ward.

• Floodlights for the playground and sports court
With the increased number of burglaries and ASB in Lockleaze, The Vench would benefit from improved lighting on the playground.

• Accessible Paths over Purdown
To improve accessibility for pedestrians using Purdown throughout the year by improving the path along Sir Johns Lane. Many Lockleaze families send their children to Glenfrome Primary school and use the route over Purdown as an alternative to Muller Road
