The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) is an annual series of high school mathematics exams sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America. The exams offered are the AMC 8 (for those in grades 8 and below), AMC 10 (grades 10 and below), and AMC 12 (grades 12 and below). The AMC 8 was given in November. The AMC 10 and AMC 12 will each be given twice in February: (1) the AMC 10A and AMC 12A concurrently from 4:00 to 5:45 PM on Thursday, 3 February 2021, and (2) the AMC 10B and AMC 12B concurrently from 4:00 to 5:45 PM on Wednesday, 10 February 2021. The exams will be given online. Each exam is 75 minutes. The exam schedule is as follows: 4:00 PM: Log into Zoom and get ready; 4:30 PM Begin exam; 5:45 PM Complete exam.

The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examinations in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills.

The AMC 10 is for students in 10th grade and below, and covers the high school curriculum up to 10th grade (like ERA Algebra 1, Geometry, some of Algebra 2). Students in grade 10 or below and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 10. The AMC 12 covers the entire high school curriculum including trigonometry (like ERA Precalculus), advanced algebra (like ERA Algebra 2), and advanced geometry (like ERA Geometry), but excluding calculus. Students in grade 12 or below and under 19.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 12.

Eagle Ridge Academy through the ERA Math Team is offering all its students the opportunity to take the AMC 10 and/or AMC 12 on the aforementioned dates. However, there are a limited number of slots (10 each for AMC 10A, 12A, 10B, and 12B). These exams are free for ERA students. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place finishers for each exam (AMC 10 and AMC 12). Colleges may offer scholarships to those who do well on the AMC 10 or AMC 12.
