Thank you for your interest in working with the Compact Scholars & Academic Student Success Programs!

Current and former SDSU students are eligible to work with our programs. We accept applications year-round. The opportunities we offer include:

OPTION A: Compact Scholars Program Mentor (Paid Student Employee)
Examples: serve as a mentor to 8-10 students, supervise our learning lounge, etc.
Current SDSU Compact Scholars are eligible to serve as academic mentors for incoming freshmen.

OPTION B: Be an SDSU HIPStar (Paid Student Employee)
Examples: be profiled in program media, speak at a campus event (small group or large), etc.
Current SDSU students are eligible to apply. We seek outstanding students who can promote and speak about their experiences with high impact practices (and experiential learning) at SDSU events and for SDSU programs.

OPTION C: Volunteer  (Not Paid)
Examples: event coordination/staffing, light office work, special projects, fundraising events, etc.
All SDSU students past or present are eligible to volunteer with our program. In some instances, we have been able to provide one-time funding for alumni to participate as a guest speaker for larger events, but this is the rare exception.

We generally hire Academic Mentors and recruit HIPStars in the spring and summer terms. If you submit an application outside of these periods, you may not hear back from us for some time. Whether you are applying for a job, or to be added to our volunteer roster, qualified applicants will be contacted by our office once a position or volunteer opportunity becomes available.
