The Middle  School Program covers 90% of what we do in the high school program but at a lower level of detail.  The video below was in 2011 (pre pandemic) but demonstrates what we will cover.
In 2005, Dr. Rubin started his Mini Med School for High School Students program.  Sixteen years later, he is created a program for Middle School Students. This form is only for middle school students interested in learning about medicine and surgery.  The program offers an overview of what students learn in Med School at the level of an advanced high school student.  Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we offered this program last fall rather than  last summer.  This gave us time to adapt our program and create a hybrid version to prevent the spread of COVID at the program.  We made the following changes: 1. All lectures were recorded and will be streamed directly to your student's computer. 2. The class size has been reduced to 2 pods of 10 students  (a total  of 20 students in 2 rooms) who will be in session for doing our hands  on experiences.  We will run one AM and one PM session.  The program will be held on Sunday July 25 from 8:30 AM to 12: 30 PM and repeated for an afternoon session at 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Edward Elmhurst Plainfield Outpatient Center located at 24600 W 127th St Building A, Plainfield, IL 60585    Students will receive  on July 16 or 17th an email containing 6 links.  They are instructed to view one or two sessions per night and complete the viewing by July 24th.  Then, each student will meet on July 25th  for their in person hands on experiences.  The students will be in a seminar room that normally seats 88 people, however there will be only 10 student in attendance. They will be required to wear a mask and physically distance  at 6 or more feet at all times.  Students will not be allowed to congregate at any  time.  All students will be screened by infrared temperatures and a set of questions designed to screen for any COVID infection.   The application to attend the program is simple.  Complete this form and mail or drop off a parent consent with a check attached for the program fee.  This fee covers all medical supplies needed during the program and a program certificate.  The program fee is $250 and payable to Dr Rubin's Mini Medical School.  Acceptance is offered on a first come first served basis once we have all three parts of your application ( this form, parent consent and the program fee).  If a student is accepted and then decides to drop out for any reason, he or she will be refunded $200 provided that we are notified by July 1, 2021.  If we are not able to run the program  due to the pandemic, we will offer the students an alternative date or a full refund.
