TBI 505 REGIONAL TRAINING EVENT REGISTRATION - 2019/2020

THANK YOU for wanting to participate in one or more of our TBI Virtual training events for TBI 505 "BUMP OR A BLEED AND WHERE IT CAN LEAD..." - Co-MORBID CONDITIONS AFTER BRAIN INJURY this year. The TBI 505 training is designed for professionals working with youth (and adults), for parents and caregivers of survivors of brain injury, and for any interested community members!

THIS 505 SESSION IS VALUABLE FOR ANYONE WORKING IN THE SCHOOLS, IN SECURE CARE OR CORRECTIONS, IN BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROGRAMS OR MEDICAL FACILITIES: This includes counselors and psychologists, therapists, general education teachers, SPED teachers, related service personnel, administrators, support staff, and parents.

This co-taught 6.0-hour virtual training (broken down into four (4) modules) is focused on co-morbid conditions and issues that occur after brain injury. The virtual training includes advanced information on acquired brain injuries and how to utilize an understanding of (a) neurodevelopment AND (b) brain-behavior relationships in order to identify and effectively impact  students in the classroom and in the community. There is special emphasis on adolescent brain development, the role of the changing brain in transition and exposing myths related to brain-based behaviors; mental health issues including medication management; and identification of depression and suicide prevention strategies. The options of 504 Plans under the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Transition Plans under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and, services into adulthood under the Americans with Disabilities Act will be covered.

The format of these sessions taught by Dr. Sue Wolf and various licensed therapists from around AZ who are trained in brain injury and related issues. With a live, teleconference format these sessions will have open discussion opportunities ("shout outs") to help keep it interactive in a virtual format. The adult education format is 40% lecture, 20% large group, 15% video training, 20% information sharing and 5% resource review.

All materials are provided for the event including PPT handouts, activity sheets and resources.  
               
HOURS:              Training:             6.0 contact hours - (four (4) modules - two (2) in each session)
                           
WHERE:       Virtually via GoToMeeting

BREAKS:      We will have a 30 minute "break" scheduled in the middle where you can get up and walk away from
                      your computer, tablet, or phone. Session will still be open but no lecture during that time.
