We are delighted to present the "Dining With Confidence" program, which was launched on October 1, 2023. This voluntary program has been designed to encourage transparency in our city's food service sector and will empower your patrons with the information that helps them make confident dining choices. It comes down to reputation and revenues.
The program, created in collaboration with the City of Detroit's Health Department, is designed to give you a tool to boost sales and increase table turnover for your business by emphasizing the Detroit restaurant community’s dedication to the health, safety, and welfare of our residents and visitors. We can help make this happen by enhancing consumer confidence in the food safety standards of Detroit’s dining establishments.
As a voluntary participant in this initiative, you will receive a placard that showcases your commitment to the State’s health and safety standards, as enforced by the Detroit Health Department. This tangible badge of assurance will draw in discerning customers and foster loyalty, which can translate into increased sales. The beauty here is that there is no additional cost, and you are already familiar with the related food safety codes!
We will be looking for your feedback along with the public to make this initiative work best for all! We want Detroit to be known as a world-class food destination, and confidence in our dining choices is key.
Here are the details of the color-coded placard system:
A GREEN placard indicates that your establishment adheres to Detroit Health Department Codes. This visual endorsement of your dedication to safety and hygiene is a strong selling point. This would be provided to you at your next routine inspection, if qualified.
If you have outstanding Priority or Priority Foundation violations or are in enforcement, a placard can/will be issued once all corrections have been documented or enforcement has been completed.
