RAINS wants to hear from you! And so does the rest of the community! Let's all work together to provide an accurate and detailed list of the wonderful, and not-so-wonderful, places to shop, visit, and explore in this place we call home!

Living in a smaller, more rural community as someone who identifies within the Rainbow (LGBTQ+) Community can be challenging. It can be difficult to know where the safe and inclusive places to shop and receive services are. Sometimes it can create so much anxiety that people choose to stay home rather than to risk their personal safety by going out. Or, worse yet, they choose not to come out as their authentic selves because they do not feel safe.

RAINS has heard countless stories like this here and has felt the ripple effect it has had on everyone. The Community Report Card is a way to help try to alleviate that anxiety, give power back to those who feel powerless, and provide access to an easy reporting system that will be updated regularly as we receive new reports.

It is our intention to allow for the Rainbow Community in the Cowlitz/Wahkiakum and surrounding areas to submit both positive and negative reviews of:

Local Businesses
Corporate/Chain Businesses
Social Service Agencies
Government Agencies
Medical Facilities
Schools
Churches
Public Figures
And more!

Please keep in mind that when we are asking for positive reviews we are seeking affirming, accepting, and safe spaces that are open and aware of your identity, that celebrate and advocate for those who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or speak up for those who are being put in harms way.

On the flip side, when we are asking for negative reviews we are seeking reports of harassment, mistreatment, and/or discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or the perception of these identities.

Not all reports may make the report card page depending on the type of report that is submitted. If the report is deemed more general rather than specific to someone's sexual orientation, gender identity, or the perception of those identities then it would not belong on this website. RAINS will contact the person reporting to seek clarification before making any final decisions as we understand that there is often some subtleties within how people are treated that hide motives and we want to ensure a fair and accurate representation is given.

If you have any supportive evidence that you could submit to go with it please let us know.

Any reports of a negative situation will require you to answer if you would like RAINS to conduct an investigation. An investigation of the organization or person will typically come in the form of research into the business or person and then arranging to meet with someone/them to discuss the reports. We will wait to do this until we have had several community requests for an investigation so that we will be able to take those reports into the organization (or person) to show why there is a issue and potentially offer Safe Zone and Inclusive training to help support a better outcome. If this is met with similar harassment or hostility this will also be reported out to the community. Or, if by chance they want to work towards being more inclusive, we will also be happy to report that as well.

Our goal is to help build a stronger foundation for those who live and work in Cowlitz/Wahkiakum and surrounding areas and want to finally be able to freely express their gender and sexual orientation here. We can reach this goal with your help - one report card at a time!
