The Mike Shanks Scholars Program was established by the Davidson family in honor of Mike Shanks, Gonzaga Preparatory alumnus, class of 1958. A lifelong teacher and passionate supporter of Gonzaga Preparatory School, Mike believed in the power of education to transform lives. The purpose of the Mike Shanks scholarship is to provide the financial support that makes it possible for a deserving young person to attend Gonzaga Preparatory School. The scholarship, up to $12,000 annually, is awarded to students who demonstrate the values that Mike considered essential for success: a commitment to hard work, integrity, and service to others.

The Mike Shanks Scholarship will be awarded to a total of two incoming freshman students for the 2020-21 school year based on the following criteria:

• Financial need, application for Fair Share tuition must be submitted
• Motivation to succeed academically at high school and in college
• Commitment to serving others and being a person of integrity
• Desire to be an engaged member of the Gonzaga Prep community
