Cable sizing calculation and ampacity correction factor (derating factors) are critical aspects in an electrical project. Typically, engineers use IEC standards e.g. IEC 60502 to adequately size and derate cables for a given site condition. In certain cases where a specific site or installation method may present conditions that are outside the installation methods specified in the IEC standards; other calculation methods that allow greater flexibility may become necessary to select an adequate cable size. The webinar will present the application of cable thermal analysis software and cable modeling to solve the thermal current carrying capacity limits of selected cables.
