Our travel program is one of the most unique factors of Project Power. How does it work you ask? Well, here is all the info you will need...

Story:
when our founder Arissa Roy came back from her trip to India, and from the school she visited, her life changed! Her whole outlook on the world was different. She said, " just being with those children I met for 10 minutes, 10 MINUTES, was such a pivotal moment." Our travel program aims to re-create that experience for participants.

How:
Through partnering with schools in need of our support, we help travellers identify and connect with students who can benefit from their help! In Toronto (where we are based) we host events such as our Eraisers ( just like a fundraiser, but instead of raising money, we raise school supplies and awareness about poverty) to collect school items that people ALREADY have in their homes, which will then be transported to the developing school via the traveller. A huge part of our mission is to ensure we are being as environmentally conscious as possible. We believe saving planet earth is a job for ALL of us. So, instead of buying new items, we are repurposing supplies, and instead of shipping, we are giving an experience for the traveller, as well as lowering our carbon emissions.

Specifics:
-In each suitcase full of supplies, there is a letter package in various languages (depending on the recipient and the country). The letter states that the traveller is transporting the suitcase’s contents to a school in the destination country and explains what the program is.

-At the end of their trip, the traveller must bring back a copy of the letter that has been signed by the teacher or principal who received school supplies. This is used as proof of confirmation that the facility has been given the suitcase. Travellers will then be requested to send a copy of the signed letter to their PP (project power) advisor.

- Usually, our pen-pal system is an addition to this program. For example, a traveller visits a school, meet the children, and maintain a connection through the pen-pal system
