Location: Learning Lab Kobe in Sumiyoshi, Hyogo
In this course, students will learn techniques like annotation, as well as critical thinking concepts, that will help them identify the elusive author’s message. They will learn to outline and draft an essay with materials provided by the Lab.
Students in this course will be practice class discussion in a Socratic seminar format. This will help them collaboratively build evidence and analysis to use in their individual essays.
The instructor will provide ongoing, personalized feedback for each day of work. By the end of the week, students have usually completed a first or second draft of a literary analysis paper.
Disclaimer: This program requires attendance for all 5 days. Additionally, acceptance will be based on age, enrollment in an IB school and previous experience at the Lab.
