SPRING SEMESTER ASIAN-INFLUENCED MULTIMEDIA ART:

$150 + $15 materials fee (15 sessions, 1/7/24 - 5/5/24, 1-2PM, ages 6-18)

Description:

1.   Watercolor (Western)

For the first 4 weeks, we are going to learn Western-style watercolor painting, starting from a drawing. The content of their work may have some subject influences from Asian cultures. Students will learn the basic techniques of watercolor, color usage, composition, and layering of colors.   

2.   Oil Landscape and Still-life Painting

For the next 7 weeks, we are going to learn oil painting, starting from creating drawings and compositions. Students will learn the fundamentals of techniques of painting, use of brush, basics of color, and application of textures. We will create a landscape and a still-life painting.  

3.  Linocut Printing with Modern Asian Influences

For the last 4 weeks, we will be looking at work of the near-modern Asian art. Students will create a simple block inspired by modern Japanese artists with some level of abstraction and design. We will explore the usage of colored print-ink as part of the block print process. They will have hands-on experience with Linocut tools and gentle and easy-use materials such as rubber. The time will be divided into making the blocks and printing the images.
