The theme of Tapestry is to explore how women and gender-expansive individuals across cultures utilize textiles, embroidery, and clothing as a powerful means to convey resistance movements and preserve untold histories.
In the face of adversity, artists become active participants, using their works to reclaim identity and culture as a weapon against oppression. This open call invites artists to channel their creativity into works reflecting themes of victory, defiance, and hope in unwavering support of collective liberation.
As a global community, we stand in solidarity with people of all lands that have faced historical occupation by colonial and imperial powers. In the current context, we mobilize our efforts with the people of Palestine, Sudan, Congo, Kashmir, and all impacted nations as they forge a new chapter toward freedom.
