Once paired with a newcomer or family, you become their tour guide and friend, answering questions and helping them navigate around the community to complete their newcomer checklist (on our website) which includes things like applying for Canadian ID, learning to navigate the community, and helping to connect the newcomer to housing, employment, and other supportive services (WorkBC, VIRCS, and more).    You are a front line to checking on how the newcomer is doing, and alerting HUVI as to whether additional supports are needed.   You may also be called on to help obtain furnishings, or other items to support the newcomer in their new life.
