Code of Conduct
The goal of Temple Beth El’s Limmud Religious School is to provide a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment in which students develop a positive Jewish identity. We  practice the following values to promote the attainment of this goal:

B’tzelem Elohim:  Every person is created in the image of God and should be treated accordingly. In Limmud we create a culture of inclusion and value differences as strengths.
Tzedakah:  Tzedek, the root of Tzedakah, means “righteousness”. In Limmud we role model and teach students the value of giving Tzedakah in the form of money, materials and time. We also practice Tzedakah by treating others in a generous manner.
Kol Yisrael Aravim Zeh La Zeh:  All of Israel is responsible for one another. Limmud staff and students are expected to be responsible for one another, as well as for the entire Jewish Community.
Kavod:  Kavod means “respect”. All Limmud staff and students are expected to treat one another and their environment with respect.

The same rules and conduct expectations we have for in-person learning will apply for virtual learning environments. Students are expected to treat virtual learning the same way they would if they were physically in Temple Beth El.

The following rules will also apply:

Students must use their first and last name when on any virtual learning platform, including but not limited to Zoom and Google Classroom. They may not change their name.
Students must be dressed appropriately. They must be dressed to learn.
Students are expected to use respectful language when speaking and when communicating through text and/or chat features. Students are not to use obscene, profane, threatening, and/or disrespectful language or images in any communication with CSD faculty, staff, and/or other students.
All communication with other students must be course-related (or class-related) in nature and must be polite, courteous, and respectful. The sending of unsolicited emails and/or messages to other classmates is prohibited.
Whenever possible, students should turn on their cameras while synchronous instruction is taking place. If/when this is not possible, a student self-photo, or “selfie,” should be used, so that they are easily recognizable to others.
Students are prohibited from recording the session. Privacy must be respected.
Students must use their natural background. They should be at a desk or table that is conducive to learning. There should not be anything deemed inappropriate in their background.
Students should immediately notify the instructor or administrator if any privacy breaches occur.

Parents should support their students by providing a comfortable environment that is conducive to learning. They should monitor their child to make sure they are staying on track, not going to various websites, and using technology.

Any students who violate this code of conduct will be subject to disciplinary actions not limited to removal from the program without refund.
By clicking “Yes” to this agreement, you and your child understand and agree to follow these policies.

My child and I have read and agree to follow the Code of Conduct. *
