Best Practices in AI Afternoon: Call for speakers

The RSE team at the University of Sheffield, in collaboration with Sheffield Centre of Machine Intelligence, are holding an afternoon “Best practices in AI” seminar on the 5th of July, 12-5pm at Workroom 2, 38 Mappin, University of Sheffield, S1 4DT.

We’re looking for talks, walkthroughs and demos on best practices for research, design, development, and deployment of AI systems or, alternatively, how AI can be used to contribute to these best practices.

Contributions on practical aspects such as tooling, workflows, processes, tips & tricks, gotchas, etc. are highly encouraged.

Presentations should fall within the following three themes:

  • Reproducible, accessible and scalable AI

  • Reducing environmental impact of AI and its infrastructure

  • Transparent, explainable and ethical AI

The talks/walkthroughs/demos can be in the following formats:

  • Standard: 20-25 minutes presentation with 5-10 minutes for questions.

  • Lightning: 5 minutes presentation with 2 minutes for questions.
