During the fall semester, student attorneys participate in the Virtual Mock Trial Program. The Mock Trial Program transforms middle school students into the role of trial lawyers. With the support of volunteer attorneys, students tackle age appropriate legal issues, engage in legal analysis, and ultimately try cases in virtual courtrooms before federal or state judges and juries made up of community members.
The Mock Trial Program, a 9 -week after-school program, matches groups of 10 to 15 students with a team
of attorneys and legal professionals who help the students prepare to become trial attorneys. By participating in the Mock Trial Program, students gain an understanding of the justice system, discovering career opportunities in the legal field, and develop their critical thinking, writing, and speaking skills. By overcoming fear of public speaking, students acquire self-confidence by engaging in the adversarial process.
Please note that participants are expected to attend EVERY SESSION unless there are extenuating circumstances.
