WHAT: As Congress and state governments work actively to advance U.S. climate policy under an amenable Biden administration, there has never been a more critical time for constituents to communicate directly with their elected representatives to express how important of an issue climate change is to them. When communicating with lawmakers about climate change, telling your personal story can be a very effective way to influence their policy positions. Climate change is often referenced in macro, long-term, and abstract ways; however, stories make the issues real for lawmakers and show how their constituents are being impacted right now. Even if you don't think you have a story to tell, you'll come to find that EVERYONE has a story to tell.
Join Jared Carter, Professor of Law at Vermont Law School, Cecile Brown, Communications Manager at EDF, and Michael Cronin, Project Manager at EDF, for this workshop to learn the anatomy of a good story, how to tell YOUR story, and how to leverage it to influence lawmakers on climate during this critical period in U.S. climate legislative history. You will come away from the workshop with a working draft of your own story to communicate to lawmakers.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 22, 7:30pm - 9:00pm ET / 4:30pm - 6:00pm PT
