I am happy to give you information about my dogs, after you complete and return that. Just to let you know, all good breeders have wait lists. I do not recommend breeders that breed constantly and have puppies available at all times, as the intent of each breeding should be carefully considered and for the preservation of the breed. 1. Please tell me about your dachshund experience. Have you ever owned a standard wirehaired dachshund before? If so, from which breeder did you purchase your last dog?
2. Do you have a sex (male or female) preference for your prospective standard wirehaired dachshund, or any other specifics that may be helpful for me to know?
3. Are you interested in competing in AKC events with your prospective standard wirehaired dachshund? If so, explain which (i.e. conformation, field trials, etc.)
4. Where do you live? Do you own or rent your home? Tell me about your fencing in your yard.
5.  Are you familiar with the tendency of dachshunds to chew and to dig? How will you deal with this tendency of the breed?
6. Are you familiar with the grooming/coat requirements for a standard wirehaired dachshund? How do you plan to groom your dachshund?
7.  Are there stairs in the home?  Are you familiar with IVDD and dachshunds?
8.  Do you have a pool? If so, tell me about the type of fencing you have for the pool.
9.  Are you familiar with crate training?  This is the best way to keep a curious dachshund safe while short cutting the learning process with house training in a new environment.
10.  Please tell me about work schedules in your home. Who is home to train and socialize a puppy?
11. Where would a dachshund sleep at night in your house?
12.  How do you transport your dogs in vehicles?
13.  Do you have a regular vet who will give a reference for you for the care given to your dogs?
14. What food would you feed a dachshund (brand of kibble, type of raw, etc.)?
15.  Please tell me about children or any other pets in the home.
16.  I do have a spay/neuter contract for pet puppies, which means those pups will not be in the show ring. My spay/neuter contract is 18-24 months, as scientific research show various preventable health issues arise due to pediatric spays/neuters. Are you willing to wait until 18-24 months to do the spay or neuter surgery?
