Thank you for your interest in fostering with SFC Virginia Animal Rescue! We are a foster-based organization, which means that all of our pets are housed in foster care until they are adopted. Foster families are integral to the adoption process, and can participate directly by helping find their foster animals adoptive homes in their networks and communities.

Because we do not have a physical facility, we do not agree to take animals from county shelters until we have a foster commitment! As a member of the Squishyface Crew, you'll therefore always be able to pick what animals you take in, but we do ask for firm commitments and the ability to foster for at least two weeks at a time (we can always help with babysitting and long weekends etc. during that period). Some pets will, of course, be adopted more quickly than others and may only need a few days to a week before they find their forever family. Ideally, your foster pet will be able to stay in your home until they are adopted (and of course, if you fall in love, you'll always have first dibs to adopt!).
