The following are the standards and expectations in Te Whānau Rumaki Ōrākeiiriora for ākonga and whānau.

Ākonga are expected to show a willingness to engage in all aspects of Tikanga Māori. This includes but limited to karakia, waiata, haka, pōwhiri, whakatau, whai kōrero, karanga.

Eg, Leading karakia at pōwhiri, if permitted, to stand and perform the whai kōrero or karanga, performing the waiata/haka tautoko, waiata ngāhau, giving a short mihi when prompted.

Ākonga are expected to show a desire and willingness to learn, grow, and thrive in a Māori Medium Educational Pathway.

Eg, completing mahi given in class, completing homework given by teachers, participating in the activities and tasks given.

Ākonga will need to maintain an 80% or higher attendance at school and Rumaki related kaupapa.

This is for unexplained absences and continuous absence from kura. It is also for the type of assessment we provide in Māori Medium Education which is different to English Medium.

Whānau are expected to be present at every whānau hui which is scheduled once a term.

Our whānau hui every term are a minimum of 1 hour. Agenda for whānau hui will be provided at least two weeks before hui is scheduled to be held.

Students must adhere to Ōrākei School rules and procedures.

This is expected of all ākonga at our kura regardless of learning pathway.
