Tville Big Brothers & Big Sisters
A new program is being started at Taylorsville High School for the next school year and we would love you to join us! We want to provide connection, support, and friendship to incoming 9th graders through "Big Brothers and Big Sisters" at the school, older students who are willing to reach out, be a friendly smile in the halls, and help the younger students get their bearings. Older students will be assigned to younger students. This is an optional, student run, PTSA supported program. Our goal is just to provide more support and friendship to Taylorsville students and help create some unity and a sense of belonging.
**If you want to participate, please sign up below and watch your email for further instructions.

Our Back to School Social will be NEXT WEEK on Thursday, Aug. 11th, 7:30-9:00 pm in the field next to the seminary building. There will be games and treats.  Then we plan to have a fun activity each term throughout the year.

OLDER STUDENTS - This would NOT be a huge time commitment, just a way to mentor, connect, and help younger students. You will be expected to meet your little brother/sister at the opening social, attend the activity each term, say "hi" in the halls, and reach out intermittently to check on them and be that cool big brother/sister that helps them around school. This is a service opportunity.

YOUNGER STUDENTS - There are a lot of unknowns and firsts coming up for you! Some may be scary and some may be exciting. We are hoping we can help you make a new friend that is a few steps ahead and can answer questions, check in on you, and greet you in the halls or at lunch. You will be able to meet other 9th graders and fun older students to help you feel more comfortable starting high school.

Parents of 9th graders - PLEASE talk about this with your student so they know our intentions in inviting them to join us. We want to make sure you are aware that this is a volunteer program. The older students are doing this to serve and care for the younger students. It is optional for everyone, but we are hoping our efforts will help the new students feel like they have other students at the school who care about them and want to help how they can. Our activities will also provide additional social opportunities for friendships besides normal school interaction. You will need to discuss this opportunity with your student and help them decide how their big brother/sister can communicate best with them (text, email, phone call, etc.) moving forward.

Feel free to reach out with any questions!  Brandalyn Seaman, THS PTSA, brandalynseaman@hotmail.com
