Truth to Power envisions a community where black youth lead community change; educated about the impact of structural racism and their ability to organize with peers. Together we aim to support community healing and build pathways for economic stability through community partnerships and civic engagement.
We do this by developing community members into leaders who organize to increase community wellness.
This summer Truth to Power piloted curriculum for our Civic Education program in partnership with No Boundaries Coalition and embarked upon a Social Innovation challenge with DENT Education. Youth leaders from No Boundaries Youth Organizers and DENT Education helped us to develop our civic education and Hip Hop programs. Listening to many young leaders and community partners, we developed additional workshops to provide business development to black Baltimore City youth and provide space for community members to heal and reflect through art.
Our Social Innovation Challenge is to, "create culturally vibrant and supportive spaces for youth to freely practice community leadership and creative expression".
