United Way Day of Caring Agency Registration

Day of Caring 32 is Friday, May 17, 2024

Day of Caring is typically a day-long United Way sponsored event offering hundreds of people the opportunity to volunteer at non-profit agencies in our community. While we promote community service volunteer efforts year-round, this day brings hundreds of people together to make a visible difference in our community.

Instructions:

  • Agencies participating in Day of Caring 32 are required to participate in a planning meeting on Monday, May 13, 2023, at 10:30 am in person at United Way of West Central CT’s office – 440 North Main Street, Bristol. Details will be shared closer to the date.
  • Please consider outdoor projects. We will do our best to accommodate indoor projects, but we may not be able to mix teams of volunteers from different companies (depending on their policies).
  • Please indicate how you will sanitize shared tools and equipment, if applicable. We will encourage volunteers to bring their own hand tools if they have them.
  • Fill out one description form per project.  Provide as much detail as possible on the Project Description Form about what you are asking the volunteers to do. Please indicate how volunteers can have a connection to your mission and/or clients.
  • Please be realistic in your estimates of time and number of volunteers needed.  It is wise to have supplementary projects in case volunteers are done ahead of time.
  • You are required to provide a light breakfast and lunch, along with sufficient beverages, for your volunteers. Please consider serving individual portions or pre-packaged food to ensure safety (i.e., pre-plating pizza slices or sandwiches). This is an excellent time to educate the volunteers on what your agency does and possibly allow them to meet some clients who benefit from the volunteers’ work.
  •  Agencies are expected to supply ALL materials and special equipment needed to complete projects.  Large and/or complicated projects should be submitted as soon as possible so we can help coordinate special equipment needs. If you cannot supply the materials, please do not submit the project.
