Clinical Observation
A requirement of the application process is for the applicant to complete at least one (1) observation with a licensed respiratory therapist for an eight (8) hour day within a respiratory care department. Copy/paste the link and email it to the licensed respiratory therapist you will shadow during your observation.

I, understand that all information concerning patients is to be treated as "confidential".  Patient information is NOT to be discussed with anyone outside the confines of the respiratory therapy department. I understand that disregard for the above statements or any violation on my part will jeopardize my acceptance into LCC's Respiratory Care Program.

Transcripts and Prerequisites 
All High School and College official transcripts must be received by LCC's Admissions Office. For information regarding requesting/submitting official transcripts to LCC, follow this link: https://www.labette.edu/registrar/index.html 

A GPA of 2.0. (minimum) and successful completion of general education requirements is required. Successful completion is defined as earing at least a "C" or "Passing"

Prerequisites:
English Composition I, English Composition II or Public Speaking, College Algebra, Medical Terminology, General Psychology, and Anatomy & Physiology (A&P must be a 5 credit hour course that includes a lab, successfully completed within the last 5 years of the incoming application year cohort).

*All general education courses that satisfy the AAS-Respiratory Care Degree requirements should be completed prior to admission to the program. If you receive financial aid, we do allow for one 3 credit hour course to be taken during the first semester of the Respiratory Care Program, which is only 9 credit hours.


I understand that all official transcripts from high school and colleges attended must be on file with LCC before I will be eligible for consideration. *

Requirements for Clinical Rotation
Upon acceptance, the following must be submitted no later than September 18, 2024.

BLS certification for healthcare providers. (There will be a BLS/CPR course held during the first semester the program students will have the opportunity to complete on campus.)

Physical conducted by a physician, drug test, health insurance, background check, and valid driver's license. (Upon acceptance into the Respiratory Care Program, the Health Science Programs' Administrative Assistant will provide the physical/immunization forms that are specific to LCC's Health Science Program students  in their acceptance packet.)

Proof of vaccinations: TB, MMR, Varicella, Tetanus, Hep B or waiver, Flu, and COVID19 (COVID guidelines below) must be provided in addition to the completed physical/immunication forms. 


I understand that if accepted into the program, that all required items for my clinical rotation must be submitted no later than September 18th, 2024. If not completed, I may be removed from the LCC Respiratory Care Program. *
I understand that if the clinical site requires the COVID19 Vaccination, it will be my responsibility to take the vaccine or obtain a decline waiver (if accepted by the clinical site). If unable to fulfill this requirement, I will be unable to complete the clinical rotation at that site. If another clinical site is not obtained and secured, I will be removed from LCC's Respiratory Care Program. *
