Alone - Workshop
Laois PPN in partnership with Laois Partnership and Respond will be holding a Social Inclusion Week from Monday 23rd of November to Sunday 29th of November.

As part of our Social Inclusion week, Alone are running a workshop via Zoom on Wednesday 25th of November at 7 pm to 8pm. Closing date for registrations is Monday the 23rd November or when all available spaces have been allocated. Please note whilst the workshop is open to all priority will be given to applicants in the 60+ age groups or those who wish to participant on behalf of someone in this age group. Laois PPN will contact all successful applicants prior to the event.

Carol McGahon will be facilitating the workshop. Carol is a support Co - Ordinator with Alone and will speak about the many supports and services that Alone offer to those over the age of 60.

ALONE support anyone over the age of 60 through a range of different services: Support Coordination, Telephone Support Calls, Support Line, & Befriending Visits.

Support Coordination
The service offers help to resolve financial and pension difficulties, support engagement with local events and activities, access housing grants and adaptations, navigate the healthcare system, access housing and tenancy support, and resolve any other challenges that may arise.
People over 60 who:
• Need information on rights and entitlements
• Cannot access vital services
• Have physical or mental health difficulties
• Have financial difficulties
• Are experiencing elder abuse
• Are experiencing isolation and loneliness
• Live in substandard or unsuitable housing
• Are homeless or at risk of homelessness
• Require additional support to remain living in the community
• The service is confidential, non-judgmental and non-denominational

Telephone Support & Befriending
ALONE’s Support & Befriending service provides companionship to older people who would like extra social contact through a weekly volunteer visit or telephone call. All Volunteers are trained, Garda Vetted and supported by professional staff.

ALONE's Support Line provides advice, information and a listening ear to those who need it. Our Support Line operates from 8am-8pm, Monday-Sunday.
