Here are two opportunities to fight for Environmental Justice in Newark on November 16th, and 17th. In July, nearly 300 allies shared over 2 hours of testimony at the Newark EJ Law public hearing - NJ’s landmark law intended to protect overburdened communities from the addition of more toxic facilities. Facilities like Covanta, Newark Energy Center, and Aries are looking to gain approval to renew their permits or build in Newark before the law is set in place in 2023.

Covanta will have their hearing on Wednesday, November 16 at 6 pm. Covanta, NJ's largest garbage incinerator, has been operating in the Ironbound for over 30 years and has committed over 800 permitting violations since 2004. Register here for the Covanta meeting. 

Aries follows the day after on Thursday, November 17th at 6pm for a Zoning Board hearing. Aries is a sludge facility (a poop factory) that is trying to put their foot in the door of our neighborhood. Join the Aries Hearing here!
