Following the success of the Men's 40s category at the recent UK Tag Nationals, Great Britain Tag Rugby are excited to announce the formation of a Great Britain Men's 40s side with the intention to compete at the 2022 International Tag Series and British & Irish Cup and the 2023 Tag World Cup.

This announcement comes in collaboration with the Irish Tag Rugby Association who will also be fielding a Men's 40s side at the forthcoming International Tag Series in Limerick on the 5th-6th August 2022. Both sides will then play a three test, exhibition series at the 2022 British and Irish Cup in Leeds (3rd-4th September) before looking ahead to the 2023 Tag World Cup taking place at the University of Limerick in August 2023.

The Great Britain Tag Rugby teams are set for one of their most exciting years yet with the inaugural International Tag Series to be played in Limerick (5th-6th August) and a home British and Irish Cup in Leeds (3rd-4th September).

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to play for Great Britain Men's 40s you need to meet the following criteria:
• Have been born on or before 31/12/83
• Be British born or have residency of three consecutive years or more in Great Britain
• OR hold a British passport
• Be a fully registered Try Tag Rugby player (or equivalent registered player with another ITF member such as the Irish Tag Rugby Association) who has participated in at least one full league season during 2021 or 2022
• Not played for another full ITF member nation within the last one year

Great Britain representatives are ambassadors. Hence you must be an outstanding member of the Tag community who will uphold the ethos of Try Tag Rugby and represent Great Britain in a manner befitting to the UK Tag community. Any player who has received a suspension from Try Tag Rugby for any on field or off field incident since the beginning of 2019 is not eligible to play for Great Britain.

Players are expected to meet the minimum training requirements as outlined by the coaches once selection has been made.
