The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) announces the availability of a bursary for veterinary nursing training, generously funded by The Kennel Club Charitable Trust.

The Kennel Club Charitable Trust Veterinary Nursing Degree Bursary is intended to help towards the costs associated with Degree training.  These costs may be course fees or other costs of an educational nature, such as associated travelling, accommodation, and subsistence expenses.

Eligibility:
Degree Students – Undergraduate students who are enrolled at a University or College and are undertaking a Veterinary Nursing Degree Programme.  Furthermore, applicants must also be enrolled with the relevant awarding body as student veterinary nurses and be undertaking training courses leading to registration as a RVN.  Applicants must also be BVNA Members and, if under the age of 25, should consider being members of the Young Kennel Club – details of which can be found at www.the-kennel-club.org.uk

Value:
The Kennel Club Charitable Trust has provided a fund of £3,000 for a Degree student, which will be distributed in equal instalments over a 3-year period.
Bursaries will be awarded to successful applicants in October of each year.  Recipients will be invited to attend BVNA Congress for promotional purposes and to be presented with their cheque.

Duration:
The 2024 bursary is for costs that would be incurred within the 3-year period up to 31 August 2026.  The award must only be used for the training outlined in the application.  Bursary holders must give an undertaking to this effect and will be obliged to inform the BVNA if the training programme is altered, or other circumstances prevent the training being taken up during the specified period.

Reporting:
It is a condition of The Kennel Club Charitable Trust Bursary awards that the award holder must provide a written report (a maximum of 500 words) of their progress to The Kennel Club Charitable Trust and the BVNA on an annual basis for the duration of the award.

Qualification:
Upon graduation and registration with the RCVS as a RVN the applicant will be titled ‘The Kennel Club Charitable Trust Veterinary Nurse’.  A successful KCCT Veterinary Nurse would be expected to work for at least two years in a predominantly small animal veterinary practice.

Application:
Applicants must use this official application form.
