Since the AGU Fall Meeting 2016, the Study of Earth's Deep Interior (SEDI or DI) section of AGU has run a convener mentoring program for students and early career researchers to learn how to propose and convene a session.
The SEDI Fall Meeting Program Committee (FMPC) solicits participation in the program in the early Spring. They individually match participants to known proposed sessions according to interest.
Requirements for the Program:
1. Participating mentees are attending full-time graduate school (post-qualifying exams are preferred) or postdoctoral researchers.
2. Have never convened an AGU Fall Meeting session before.
3. Mentees are expected to be involved in all session convening processes.
4. Mentees are not required to attend AGU, but mentees are required to attend their session if and only if the mentee is attending AGU virtually or in-person.
5. If mentees would like to be a presenting author in their session, they may only be a poster presenter.
6. If a mentee does not respond to any emails or does not stay involved in the process, FMPC will remove their name from the session after the abstract submission.
