For most women, deciding if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child is a highly personal and complex decision that they make with their families and medical providers. It is important that clinicians and practitioners have the tools to help their patients make that decision when and if they are ready.

NARAL Pro-choice Oregon and Power to Decide will be hosting a training with the Central Oregon Health Council and Pacific Source to provide medical providers with an opportunity to become One Key Question® certified and learn about services available under the Reproductive Health Equity Act.

ABOUT ONE KEY QUESTION AND THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EQUITY ACT:

One Key Question® is a transformative tool that starts the conversation about if, when, and under what circumstances women want to get pregnant and have a child. The notion behind One Key Question® is simple: it provides a framework for health providers, social service providers, and champions who support women age 18-50 to routinely ask, “Would you like to become pregnant in the next year?”

One Key Question® is used by thousands of health care and social service providers in approximately 30 states. One Key Question® providers include clinicians, community health workers, home visiting nurses, and many more. One Key Question® has been adopted by large health systems, state and local public health departments, and others to address a myriad of health equity efforts, including perinatal equity and maternal child health.

On August 15th, 2017, Governor Brown signed the Reproductive Health Equity Act (House Bill 3391) into law. The Reproductive Health Equity Act protects and expands coverage for reproductive health services at no out-of-pocket cost for Oregonians covered by commercial health plans regulated by the State of Oregon, establishes reproductive health coverage for undocumented Oregon women, prohibits commercial health plans regulated by the State of Oregon from discriminating on the basis of gender identity, and codifies the right to abortion in the State of Oregon.
There are several new benefits in the bill that have been implemented and that are available to patients through Oregon Health Authority Reproductive Health Program certified providers across the state.
