WQED Film Academy Fall 2022 In-Person Registration
WQED Film Academy is a youth education program in digital media arts and filmmaking. The Academy is open to 9th graders through 12th graders.

Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to apply for a next-level internship opportunity with Film Academy's Teen Film Crew. Upon successful completion of their internship, they may then be invited to apply for a part-time job with the Teen Film Crew where they get paid to produce promotional videos for clients and content for our web series: "The Reel Teens: Pittsburgh." Due to labor laws, students must be 16 to receive a paid position. COST TO ATTEND ONLY APPLIES TO A STUDENTS' FIRST SEMESTER WITH FILM ACADEMY.

The 2022 Fall in-person* program runs from September 27th through December 22nd 2022 for two days each week (Tuesday and Thursday) from 4pm-8pm, at WQED Studios in Oakland - 4802 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. WQED Film Academy will not be in session the week of November 21st for Thanksgiving.

The cost of the program is $2,000 per student. Financial assistance and full scholarships are available due to the generous support from foundations and the Pittsburgh community. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration to secure a spot. Financial assistance recipients are NOT required to provide a deposit, but confirmation via email or phone is necessary to claim the spot. The deposit will go towards the remaining balance that is due at the start of the session. Payment plans are available.

If applying for full scholarships, this application is due Tuesday, September 13th.

WQED Film Academy uses a rolling admissions process and will notify all applicants of their application status within 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester. At that time, applicants will also be notified of financial assistance awarded, if applicable.  Limited spaces are available in each session.

We base our tuition on the 2022-2023 Federal Registry for Free & Reduced School Lunches shown below.
Here is what we require families pay for the program*:

Green section or below: $500

Yellow: $1,000

Anything above Yellow:  $2,000.
