WHAT: The Middle School After-School Program is jointly sponsored by Fairfax County Neighborhood, Community Services, and Fairfax County Public Schools. This FREE program offers a wide range of fun and engaging activities that balance academics, enrichment, community service, culture, youth development, and recreation with an evaluation plan with assessments on attendance, quality, and student outcomes.

WHO: The program is available to ALL Holmes Middle School students.

WHEN: The program is available Mon - Fri after school from 2:15-4:45.  

WHERE: The program and all of the activities take place right here at Holmes.

WHY:  It’s fun, it’s free, it strengthens relationships, food & transportation are included.

HOW: Students must sign-up for the program and choose an activity the SAME DAY they stay. Students that fail to sign-up with the ASP specialist during the school day, will not be able to stay for the program.

TRANSPORTATION: ASP buses are provided M-Thursday. If a student would like to stay on Friday for After-School, that student must secure a ride home. Please note that ASP bus numbers and bus stops may differ from your students regular bus number and bus stop. Students not taking the ASP bus home are expected to be picked up no later than the end time of the program; 4:45pm. Students that are picked up prior to 4:45 must be signed out of the main office. Walkers may sign themselves out anytime after 3:30.

Continued participation in the After-School Program is contingent on adherence to school guidelines and policies (SR&R). Student participation in the After-School Program may be denied or restricted for the violation of school policies or if parents/guardians are chronically or excessively tardy when attempting to pick up their child/children. The after-school program being operated at this site is exempt from licensure as per §22.1-289.030 of the Code of Virginia and has no direct oversight by the Virginia Department of Education.

I hereby agree to the information above and grant permission for my student to participate in the Holmes After-School Program during the 2023-24 school year. I understand that participation by my student is completely voluntary, and that some of the planned physical activities may expose my child to potential injury. If any injuries do occur to my child, I also understand that school personnel will respond in the same manner that occurs during regular school hours.
