The Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) will host the 7th Annual Paint it Orange Plein Air Paint-out Fundraiser October 4-6, 2023. For three days, local and visiting artists will experience the beauty, charm, and rich history of Orange County by painting en plein air (in open air), capturing the landscapes and landmarks signature to our region. Artists will submit up to two of their favorite paintings for juroring on Friday, October 6 at the Eno Arts Mill Gallery in Hillsborough. An Awards and Preview Party for artists and sponsors will take place from 5-6pm, followed by a reception and “Wet Paint Sale” from 6-9pm. The exhibit will remain through the end of October. Last year’s paint-out was an overwhelming success, drawing more than 60 artists and featuring over100 works of original fine art.
New this year - Orange County Farm Registration
Orange County farms have always been a draw for Paint it Orange artists. This year, we will create a list of farms who welcome Paint it Orange painters to make it easier for our artists to select where to paint.
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW...
- There is no cost or burden to you! All you have to do is say you will allow painters to paint on your property. We will provide you with a “Paint Me” Paint it Orange Sign which will be delivered the last week of September. Artists understand they are not to enter your home/porch or any outbuildings unless invited.
- You may have several painters, or you may have none. Artists are given a map with your farm listed as a potential painting site, but are allowed to pick where they paint. But by placing the invitation sign at your farm entrance, you will be telling passersby that you support the arts and artists, and that the arts support you!
- Painters are self supported and need nothing from you. They will bring their own chair, easel, water bottle, etc... That said, if you’d like, you are welcome to say hello!
- The week after the event, we will come to remove your sign so we can use it again next year.
- You are welcome to the public art show & party at the Eno River Mill on Friday, October 6, 6-9pm at the Eno Arts Mill (437 Dimmocks Mill Rd., #17). You’ll be amazed at the talent on display. You may even see your farm on canvas!
