https://www.zoom.us/In SPEAK, Indian Kathak dance and American tap intertwine to celebrate tradition and embrace new possibilities. Flipping the script on forms generally dominated by men, four incredible women including tappers Michelle Dorrance and Dormeshia with Indian Kathak dancers Rina Mehta and Rachna Nivas have co-created a triumph of cross-cultural collaboration. Originally, our residency and performances of SPEAK were scheduled for the week of April 13, 2020. As we work to reschedule the in-person events for spring of 2021, we're bringing you a few online events this spring!
In our digital Happy Hour on Tuesday, April 28 at 5:30pm, the artists will share their inspiration for bringing kathak and tap together. In this causal setting, they will share the history, insights and video clips of this cross-cultural project. We'll toast to the power of the arts to bring us together even in difficult times. We'll even share our favorite cocktails and mocktails before the session. A link to the Zoom event will be emailed to you 30 minutes prior to the event on Tuesday.
NC State LIVE is strongly committed to making our programming accessible to people of all abilities. If you have specific accommodation requests for this Zoom event, please email Liza Green, associate director at
