Community Survey: Citizen science volunteers
The purpose of this survey is to improve understanding of the collection, processing and submission of citizen science data as a significant contribution to our species records in QLD. Your responses may inform the conservation movement and citizen science organisations to make improvements through education and advocacy with government and the community.

Citizen Science data can make a significant and valuable contribution to species representation in government databases. Recent eNGO database workshops have highlighted the role of representative species data in supporting good Government decision or policy in planning processes, development approvals, management plans, pest mitigation and conservation.

In 2023, the Queensland Government provided $704,922 in funding to increase public participation in citizen science projects in addition to numerous grant programs including $1.27 million for the Engaging Science Grants.

Citizen Science definition: The definition used by the Queensland Government (Australian Citizen Science Association): "Public participation and collaboration in scientific research with the aim to increase scientific knowledge".

Your involvement, privacy, and confidentiality. For information regarding the use of data collected in this survey, please go to the following link http://tinyurl.com/579xn23f

Thank you for taking the time to contribute to this very important topic and for enabling the conservation movement in QLD to get a better understanding of Citizen Science data collection, processing and submissions.
