Put on your butterfly wings and join us for fun and laughs as we play and do yoga poses set to classic children’s books like Eric Carle’s “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. We’ll learn simple breathing exercises and yoga poses that engage children and teach them the tools to feel calmer, happier and more peaceful inside.

Yoga benefits children in many ways. Beside increasing flexibility and strength, it helps develop body awareness, builds concentration, increases confidence and fosters a positive body image. A growing body of research shows that yoga can even help children improve their memory, enhance self-esteem and reduce anxiety.

Kathleen earned her 200 hour certification for yoga and SEL (social emotional learning) Wellness through Breathe for Change, a 200 hour certification from Sacred Roots Healing in Easthampton, a certification in Restorative Yoga, and a certification in Cosmic Kids yoga. She started the Crisscross Applesauce Yoga Club at Belcher Elementary School in Chicopee where she works as a school nurse. Kathy is a registered nurse with over 35 years of experience working with children and families for most of her life. She also volunteered her time for many years as a Girl Scout leader teaching her troop the importance of community and giving back.

In her second half of her life, Kathleen is fully committed to the yogic lifestyle of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. She is an enthusiastic, lifelong learner who enjoys teaching and sharing her love of yoga with others. Kathy loves working with children and is dedicated to empowering women to take the time for self-care. She is also an Usui trained Reiki Master. She is always creating and enjoys art in all forms. You can often find her painting, gardening and enjoying nature.

Caroline has spent over 15 years working in healthcare at Optum (UnitedHealth) and Cigna dedicated to helping employers see the value in investing in health and well-being programs to improve the health of their most valuable assets - their employees. She worked on research studies focused on prevention and behavioral health.

Caroline discovered yoga several years ago as a way to manage the stresses of daily life and found it to be a source of growth, calm and joy. After her father passed away from pancreatic cancer, she decided it was time to pursue a new life changing path and completed Sacred Roots Healing’s 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. Caroline believes that yoga can benefit people of all ages and abilities and wants to share its benefits with others. She also earned her Usui Reiki Level 2 Certification. Caroline enjoys testing new recipes in the kitchen, reading biographies and walking her dogs Lily and Maya.
